A word about how our books are selected and priced… Each year we receive thousands of used and gently-used books that are donated to our Friends organization; among them are out-of-print, collectible, and vintage books. We in turn sell these books in our bricks and mortar Friends of the Library Used Bookstore at Broad and Spruce and here at our Friends of the Library Online Used Bookstore. We use the proceeds to help fund the programs of our local library. Our volunteer sorters watch for possible out-of-print, specialized books that they think would attract a wider audience; also watched for are used books of uncommon nonfiction, religion, Texarkana area interest, hobbies, plus craft books and cookbooks. These subjects make up the general inventory for sale in the Friends Online Used Bookstore. The selected books are set aside and each one is evaluated for condition, content, etc. If a book passes this test, research is done to determine its value. At the same time, based on the information compiled about the book, a concise description of the content and a statement of its condition is written. We use the guidelines listed on our Book Grading Terms page to describe our books. Finally, the books are scanned and made ready for listing in our next update. We feel that this procedure assures that you will get a book that is in good condition, honestly described and fairly priced. Each update, we select some of our books to be sale-priced; these used and gently-used books are found in the category listing, “Sale and Values”. |

You may return a book for any reason within 5 days of receipt for a full refund less shipping charges. Please notify us in advance so that we can send you instructions about where to return it.

This is our Friends Bookstore that houses the 1000’s of books from which we select our online listings. Our store is now open to the public once a month. (Use the “Friends Home Page” link above to see the dates that we are open). This is also the site of the Friends Annual Book Sale which is held in April of each year. |

How to Purchase Our Books… Please check with us to be sure we still have the book(s) you want before making payment since we only have one copy of most books that we list. (Use the “Contact Us” button at the top of any page)
We accept cashiers checks or money orders payable in U.S. dollars. We also accept PayPal payments. Note that we can’t yet accept direct credit card payments; however, our books may be purchased using any major credit card through the PayPal website. (Email us for information). We will be happy to hold a book for you for up to 7 days after which it will be put back up for sale.
We ship via USPS Media Mail. Unless otherwise noted in the book listing, our normal shipping charge is $3.25 for the first book and $1.50 for each additional book. Sets of books which are unusually heavy and require additional postage will be so noted at the end of their listings and the shipping cost will be specified. Priority Mail, UPS, FedEx, shipping insurance, and shipping charges outside the U.S. are available upon request and will be billed at actual cost.
Note: We are required to collect sales tax only on shipments sent to Texas addresses. (8.25% Texas Sales Tax)
